ch.16 "it's end"
we had to rush but we made it there before dawn. the village hadn't changed much in the last few years and father Aaron was waiting there for us. Belina greeted him and i nodded "Marcus is on his way, he has an idea but he needs time" "how much?" "as much as we can give him" Belina held up the glasses "he really trust this plan, it's the only reason he'd give these up" i sat against a wall in the shade and looked at them "he may have an idea but i don't trust it, we don't know what happened to him" "what happened to Marcus?" "father Aaron, during the first year he left us to go south while we found the obelisks, he disappeared completely. the obelisk of darkness couldn't find him, no one could. when he turned up he dragged an old dwarf out and cooked him in fire because that dwarf had something to do with his mother's anger" "she did something to him" "only way a boy like Marcus would kill someone" "i did nothing to Marcus!" i looked up at her floating towards us "either way time is up. where is he?" "he's coming" Belina held up the glasses and she reached out taking them "i destroyed one pair of these glasses in my anger, not again. i won't let myself forget him." she put the glasses on and held a hand out to Belina "you smell of the metal obelisk"i rushed up in front of her as fire burst out. a metal wall rose up in front of me and Belina smiled hugging me "thanks for trying" i pushed her back as the ground burst in flames and enveloped me. i pulled stone up to cover myself as best i could but still got burnt badly. i fell to my knees and looked at her as the metal wall was ripped to pieces. she smiled down at me "i once had a love that burned just as you do now, pillars took him form me" i forced myself to stand and fell to my back. i ground my teeth and Belina moved to guard me "stop!" the woman smiled and grabbed Belina by her neck "foolish Crag. you will die" she struggled and i forced myself to sit up "stop!" she smiled at me and lifted her up higher. Marcus appeared grabbing her arm "Laila stop this" something was different about him, his hair was black and he had normal eyes. "Laila the pillars put us through hell and i know they hurt you but you're no better if you do this" "Marcus" he hugged her and hands lifted me to my feet. i looked back at the normal Marcus standing behind me "it's alright Ash" "two of you?" "no, that's my father" the man looked at me and smiled "i'm sorry you had to feel that kind of pain" he held a hand out to me and slowly my burns reversed until it was like i never had any "how did you do that?" "i can't use any of the 12 magics, i was born able to use only time magic." he looked back at the woman "let the Crag girl go" "but they killed you" "Laila i died, but now i'm alive" "this is deaths trick" "i knew you for 18 years before my death, you spent thousands of years pregnant because my magic slowed the process, you love it when i have long hair but hate beards, and i died helping you escape the dwarven tunnels" "Marcus" she let go of Belina and her glow died. she dropped into his arms and buried her head in his shoulder. the other Marcus behind me smiled "i needed time to revive him which i failed at several times" "how'd you do it then?" the older Marcus looked at me and tapped his glasses "bound my soul to these glasses and is keeping me here with his magic, i have a few days with him in his current condition" "what condition?" they both coughed and golden blood fell on my shoulder and i looked at him smiling with golden blood coated teeth "i'm suffering from my fathers time strain illness, the more it's used the worse we get" his mother disappeared and took him away from me hugging him "you'll die if you keep this up" "mom you didn't give up you're mortality, the pillars took it from you and sentenced themselves to death in doing so. please stop this" "you brought him back to stop me" "in my anger i lost myself. Laila i killed metal because of what he did and i refuse to take another persons life. that being said i know i can't beat you without giving up my mortality" Belina sat beside me and i fell back closing my eyes "wake me when this is all over"

i smiled at Ash as he laid down and fell asleep and then looked at mom and dad "please stop this" "Marcus" dad hugged her and took the glasses "Laila you are the light of my life, don't ruin our sons life anymore" i covered my mouth and coughed up more blood. my palm was filled with golden blood and dad held up a hand covered red blood "Marcus let me go, you'll die holding me here" "i'll hold you as long as i can, she deserves this after what they did to both of you" "so you linked our souls and lived my life" "the old church where you two hid out in as children. earth attacked you both and you saved her" "from there onto my death. that means you experienced you're conception on the boat" mom looked at me and i nodded "the first kiss drugging his mind, the second weakening him, and the last one breaking him and causing him to black out. it was more than beast magic you used, something else was in it." dad looked at me confused "how could you tell?" "because it's happened to me before, a dwarf demanded that my friend trusted me" "an elf?" mom nodded "they made you kiss the Crag girl" i nodded and looked back "i saw a gleam of gold in her eyes and she acted differently afterwards. mom i think something in us makes us mark people so they come after us or at least don't resist as much" mom smiled "it only works on the first person you kiss and only once. after i became this way i began fading into another world and then learned to pass freely. i like it here but i can't stay with what i am" i held my stomach and puked up golden blood on the ground. dad mimicked me puking red blood. "Marcus!" we both looked up at her and i fell over clutching my stomach "so much for a few days" mom crouched next to me with dad on the other side "you'll die if you hold me here any longer, let me go!" i reached up grabbing his shoulder and i pulled myself up "i refuse to see her cry, you promised to never make her cry. it's my promise now" "let me go before she loses a son and a love" she stopped us and Belina smiled down at us "tie him to her, she clearly has more magic than anyone else so it shouldn't be that hard for her to hold him here, at least until you recover and then you could trade him back and forth" dad looked at her and then me "would that work?" i clutched my chest and looked at mom "i won't force this on you" "Marcus do it"i grabbed both of their shoulders and felt her magic flow into me. my body glowed brightly and i fell back letting the glow die. a ghostly image of a chain was linked between them. i smiled and closed my eyes "father Aaron, i saved the village" i heard his voice over me "you did very well, Marcus. i'm very proud of you" i opened my eyes so see mom standing without her glow, she looked like she had when i saw her before dad died. dad had given her his shirt and she was using it to cover herself. he lifted me in his arms and i looked at father Aaron "father, i thank you for all you've done for our son but we will be taking him with us" "you are always welcome here" "we couldn't not after all the trouble Laila's caused you, we'll visit when we find a place to settle down in" i smiled "hopefully for more than a few months" dad smiled and Belina stood up lifting Ash onto her back "mind if we take him home first?" they looked at me and i nodded "we owe him, after all he was cooked alive" mom smiled "it feels nice to walk again" i closed my eyes and fell asleep in my fathers arms.
